SPÄH Chronological study

Chronological study

Over a four-month period, 14 of our employees had the chance to find out what makes their body clock tick. The study was filmed by television teams from the shows “Terra X” and “W wie Wissen”.

To understand why our body clock is so important with regard to our working hours, a little background knowledge is needed:

“Early risers” tend to get up early in the morning and are immediately raring to go, whereas late risers still feel wide awake in the evening and can even concentrate late into the night.

As an employer, therefore, it’s good to know what types of people you have hired. For example, working a night shift could actually be detrimental to an early riser’s health. It could result in chronic mental or physical illness as well as sleep problems.

The results of our in-house study showed that our employees slept on average 30 minutes longer than usual and that the typical grogginess that is typically experienced immediately after getting up was not an issue. This meant they were better able to concentrate at the start of their working day.

This project has shown us that it is possible to increase employees’ concentration and satisfaction levels without major restructuring of their working hours.
