Sustainable packaging is a matter of course for us
Sustainability and the environment is currently a big issue for our society. These aspects have been cornerstones of our company philosophy for many years. However, we are now noticing a change among our customers – for many of them, this topic is growing in importance.
Our vision: To make the world a little better and to use sustainable packaging for the sake of the environment. For this reason, at Karl SPÄH GmbH & Co.KG we have decided to change the packaging materials we use in our shipping department.
This has given rise to some challenges: How can we fill the cavities in our products? Is there an eco-friendly solution that also meets our quality requirements? One initial idea was to shred cardboard boxes that were either no longer needed or defective. However, we quickly discovered that this resulted in contaminated products. A new approach was needed.
The solution? Ecological paper. Thus, despite a 20% cost increase, we have switched to natural paper filling instead of ordinary PE bubble wrap to enclose the cavities within each package and protect our products during delivery. The paper is 100% recycled, environmentally friendly and reusable. In addition, we have reduced our material consumption and created ergonomic workplaces.
