Welcoming the GREENS as our guests

Press release THE GREENS

Visit by Reinhard Bütikofer, Member of the European Parliament, and Johannes Kretschmann, Bundestag candidate for Zollernalb-Sigmaringen to the SPÄH Group in Scheer and
to the Tante und Emma zero-waste store in Sigmaringen on Friday, July 9, 2021.

The Sigmaringen district association of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen would like to thank the SPÄH Group for a highly interesting and exciting visit to Scheer and the zero-waste store in Sigmaringen. During our tour of the company’s offices and its warehouse and production hall in Scheer, it became clear that SPÄH is an important pillar of our local SME sector in the Sigmaringen district. The company has obviously had ecological transformation in mind and on its agenda for a long time. Johannes Kretschmann commented: “Companies that promote sustainable business practices at an early juncture and on their own initiative will gain a competitive advantage.

Reinhard Bütikofer, Member of the European Parliament, showed great interest in SPÄH’s practices and received answers to all his questions during a joint video chat, which included Sandra and Lejla Späh. Among other things, the new supply chain law was discussed, as well as the shortage of skilled workers, which Späh is trying to counteract via a number of employee-friendly offers. The tour participants were also served a delicious three-course meal in the company’s new ’Karma’ canteen. Recently opened, the canteen exclusively serves dishes containing high-quality local produce. In addition, emphasis is placed on reducing the amount of meat on the menu and offering employees food at a reasonable price. The canteen is largely supplied by the ’Tante und Emma’ zero-waste store, which opened its doors in Sigmaringen this year. Reinhard Bütikofer and Johannes Kretschmann spoke with the store’s manager, Kirsten Klein, who revealed its “secret sauce” to the two politicians from Germany’s Green Party: “The secret to our success is that Sandra and Lejla Späh have recognized the signs of the times. We all know what is out there, polluting our oceans and ruining our natural surroundings. Unpackaged goods are one way to curb this problem.” The entire conversation can be found on Johannes Kretschmann’s Instagram channel in his JFK indoors and outdoors video format (Instagram: johannes.kretschmann).
